My husband and I worked with Tate Varela to refinance our mortgage, and Tate worked diligently to complete the refinance quickly and efficiently.A close friend referred us to Tate as "the best mortgage officer in the industry," and I couldn't agree with my friend more. Our refinance was a little tricky since we were moving from a Tenancy-In-Common (TIC) 3-1 ARM at a local bank. Our TIC completed condo conversion in early fall, and we reached out to Tate Varela a few months prior to our condo conversion. We were glad we did! Tate stayed on top of the financing portion so he could help us lock in a low fixed-rate mortgage in an environment of rising interest rates. As the condo conversion neared completion, Tate proactively worked with his network to make sure the escrow officer was ready to close our new loan. Tate helped us to close our new loan within a matter of days of completing the condo conversion. As a project manager, I appreciate that Tate used the wealth of his experience to proactively manage upcoming milestones and kept us apprised of any risks that could have delayed our loan closing.I highly recommend Tate Varela for his proactive approach and his professional and friendly attitude.

I started the loan process with Mary Niles because my realtor told me that only two realtors would write loans for the co-ops that I was trying to buy. Well, long story short I did not buy the co-op but decided on a condo and since I had already started with Mary I decided to stay with her and Opes Advisors since I was approved with them already and was told she was a local 'expert.' Well, that was my mistake. She is apparently a novice - certainly not an expert. She did not know what an ELOC was. When I told her what it was she said Oh, we call those loans HELOC. Hello? The loan process was very painful. Documents had to be sent several times because she'd lose track of them. She made several comments that were totally off the wall incorrect. You can not talk to your underwriter. OPES Advisors rates are a full one percent higher than competitors. Their fees are higher too so look for another lender and save yourself some stress as well as lots of money. They immediately sold my loan to Wells Fargo (also ick) and yet they continue to send me bills!

Absolutely incompetent, disorganized and confusing. Go find an actual lender and not a middle-man to make your process more costly and time consuming.Bob Allen from Opes was referred to us by our agents. He was 'their guy' because he could turn around deals quickly (HA!) in a competitive SF market that sometimes requires 15-day escrows instead of 30. Well, our escrow was a typical 30-day, and Bob and his sidekick Darrin bumbled through the whole process.Lets just organize this by how they f---ed up instead of chronologically, as this is a review not a one-star documentary.

Daniel is an extremely kind and proactive communicator. He is excellent at delegating tasks and staying on top of what needs to be done. He is very approachable and friendly, working late into the night and early the following morning. He is also knowledgable and eager to help get the information you want and need. I know how busy he is managing many other accounts but he has a talent in personalizing your experience which is important. The process can often be confusing and daunting but Dan does a good job navigating questions and concerns with patience. He moves quickly and is just a great person overall. Would definitely recommend and hope to connect with him on future projects. Thank you for all your help, sir.

Dean Catiis helped me throughout the home search process. He always responded quickly and met every offer deadline my realtor and I needed. I ended up choosing a different lender because of lower interest rates, in hindsight I should have stuck with Dean.
