Went in for my initial meeting with the mortgage agent and he wasn’t there. It turns out the agent I was to see apparently had been laid off sometime in the previous days and nobody had rescheduled his appointments. The Wintrust reception lady had the newly departed agent call me from his cell phone and said if I could wait a week or two for him to get setup at a new company he would be able to help me. Nobody at Wintrust ever asked if I would like to meet with someone else. It wasn’t until I had left the premises and was driving home that I got another call from the ex-Wintrust agent asking if I would like another meeting setup with a Wintrust mortgage agent. A terrible initial experience when looking to start a new mortgage.

I would not recommend our experience with Wintrust. On the positive side, we closed on a house. On the downside, there were issues all through the process, and we were treated very poorly throughout the process by our Loan Officer. Our final docs arrived late, and Wintrust blamed the systems at the title company. Funny thing, the title company responded to our calls quickly, followed up, and noted they had no systems outages. Even at closing, Wintrust did not wire the full amount, so our closing took almost 2 hours while we waited for them to send the payments to the closer. During the closing documents were missing or incorrect, despite multiple requests to correct them over previous months.
